Snowberry

The snowberry is a shrub species from North America. The species is able to expand easily with its root sprouts and can thus push out the existing native undergrowth. The plants have recognisable round leaves and small pink flowers, but their large white berries are particularly well known. These are poisonous and are avoided by most birds. The shrub grows between 1 and 3 metres high. In gardens, this species often begin to proliferate and is therefore unfortunately often dumped in the wild as garden waste, after which the plant grows up from root fragments. In our dunes, this species is most often found as undergrowth in dune forests.
