Oregon grape

Oregon grape is an evergreen shrub which can be recognised by its leathery leaves with prickly edges, yellow flowers in spring and blue berries in summer. This species originates from North America and is a major problem on the Western coast of Flanders, where it occurs in all dune areas. This species is difficult to dig out, as the plant shoots again from every broken and remaining root remnant.
