Dune gentian
The dune gentian grows 5 to 25 centimetres high and flowers from July to November with purple or white flowers. This plant prefers sunny spots on moist, calcareous soil. The species grows mainly in humid dune slacks and low moorland marshes in Northern Europe and Western England. In Flanders, dune gentian is very rare in the dunes and is on the Red List in the category 'threatened with extinction’.
