Coast leaf-cutter
The coast leaf-cutter is a highly endangered bee species found mainly along the coast. It is strongly tied to warm and sandy biotopes such as dunes, but can also be found in heathland and calcareous grassland. This bee collects pollen on various types of plants, such as the sea holly. For nest building, the coast leaf-cutter uses pieces of leaves from various trees and herbs. The bees sleep hanging on a grass stem: they clamp themselves down with their jaws.
